Perfectly petite wedding cakes for intimate celebrations
Intimate, elopement weddings are proving really popular at the moment, with more and more couples choosing to shun the stress of large wedding celebrations in favour of tieing the knot either by themselves with a couple of witnesses, or surrounded by a few close friends and family. What could be more romantic than saying your vows looking longingly into each other eyes with no distractions - just you, completely absorbed in your special moment.
Having said that, the fact that it is just the two of you it does not mean you can’t celebrate with a super special cake! You might not need 4 tiers of extravagant sponge cake but you can still have a showstopper on a mini scale! I love creating smaller cakes for intimate celebrations - the fact that the planning process is not quite as stressful means that I tend to get to know couples a lot better and can really work with them to design and create something that suits them and is full of personal touches.
I loved creating this tall single tier cake earlier in the year - the hand painted design was based on the brides bouquet and it had the couples initials hand painted on the top in silver.
This elegant single tier wedding cake was created for the lovely Sara and Peter who chose to elope to their beloved Cornwall to tie the knot with a few close family members. Fistral Beach had always been a very special place for them and it was also the back drop to their wedding celebration so Sara was keen to include the beach in their cake design alongside some of the flowers she chose for her bouquet. I loved creating this super personal cake and helping make even more special memories!
This perfectly petite 2 tier cake decorated with fresh flowers would be perfect for an elopement - the top tier could be cut on the day and enjoyed together, whilst the bottom tier could be taken home to share with family and friends when you give them your special news! It is also possible to freeze any left over cake to be enjoyed at a later date!
Single portion cakes are another fun possibility. My edible teacups and saucers are the perfect portion for one - each cup and saucer is made from sugar and filled with yummy sponge cake, topped with tinted buttercream to look like tea! Perfect for a picnic on the lawn or an afternoon tea together! These can be personalised with names or colour matched with your flowers or outfits and make for giggle worthy photo opportunities!
Finally - I loved creating these book cakes (Yes they are cake!!) for a special couple a few years ago - they both chose books that held special meanings for each of them and really enjoyed having them as part of their day. You could choose books that tell the story of your relationship or books that you have both enjoyed together!
There are no end of possibilities - Thinking small isn’t always a bad thing!
